In 1976, next to the site of ancient Modi'im, where the story of Chanukah began, a small group of young American Jews, mostly "Ba'ale T'shuvah", veterans of the `60's, celebrating the Maccabean victory over assimilation, settled moshav Me'or Modi'im. With the help of G-d, with the help and blessing of the previous Amshinover Rebbe of blessed memory, and with the inspiration, Torah, music and love of their teacher, Reb Shlomo Carlebach of blessed memory, they rededicated themselves to the pure Jewish values of resettling and cultivating the Holy Land, learning Torah, and bringing up their families in the Chassidic ideals of peace and joy. Over the twenty years of its growth, the small group accepted new members from the four corners of the Earth and have been quietly sharing these life-goals enjoying the teachings and music of their spiritual leader and neighbor, Reb Shlomo.

We would love to hear from all the Chevre who have been through the Moshav. Let us know how and what you're doing these days. Share with us some of your memories or thoughts about the Moshav and its folk.
